I have just acquired the needed tooling to start reloading, a Lyman "package" deal that was on sale as well as dies for 6.5 G, .300BLK and .45ACP. yesterday I de-primed and cleaned 100 BLK's and 200 .45's as I have the needed components for them light 6.5 pills are few and far between locally and the 6.5's are coming on the brown truck.
The first of what I'm sure will be MANY questions is how do Y'All clean your brass I used RCBS formula 1 walnut shell dry media in the Lyman Turbo tumbler, it cleaned them well enough
but it was a huge dusty mess and required individual inspection of each case to clear flash holes AND I believe the cases will need to be rinsed?? to remove leftover dust before moving on to next step.
I entered the reloading "game" to increase the amount of time I can have with my shooting hobby as much as all the other benefits that come with it, I'm a retired machinist so this sort of tinkering is in my blood so the time is not a concern BUT I'm also very much OCD about doing things right in both the process and where the end products quality is. After my first round of cleaning I believe that there MUST be a better way to do this first step.
So what works best for those of you that have been at this for a while? I'm starting this trip as most do with baby steps and each answer will likely lead to 3 new questions so please bear with me, and if there is a more appropriate place for me to get the needed info point me to it and I'll come back here when my questions are at a level more suited to this section.
