Well ended up with a 6 AR not an ARC

Next teardown will remove all orings from my several bolts. Especially since my cyclic rate is generally less than one per 30 seconds. I feel the extra resistance to the extractor moving is a detriment.

Cyclic rate is a measurement of speed per each cycling of the action, though we commonly use it in Machinegunnery to describe "going cyclic”.

A RLGS with a proper port on 18”-22” AR-15s cycles smoothly and in the normal window of time to allow the case to de-obturate from the chamber walls, then to be extracted by a moderately-sprung extractor.

As you move the gas port back closer to the chamber or increase the barrel length in front of the port, the gas delivered to the expansion chamber inside the carrier will overcome carrier inertia and initiate momentum sooner, when the case might still be obturated to the chamber wall.

O rings are designed to help extract cases that are still obturated, which is why I call them a band-aid. It’s better to address the gas system first to make sure it’s delivering the optimum amount of gas volume within a specific time into the expansion chamber.

This is all assuming the gas block and bolt carrier have the proper dimensions and fitment, which at least roughly 85% of the rifles on the market do not have, likely more.
