One thing Ive found is that when you chase an arbitrary weight limit without taking balance into consideration and the reliability of the operating system, you can achieve the arbitrary goal and not have a firearm that feels very good to shoot.
I will say though that a buddy of mine built a 20 Proof Grendel on Seekins billet receivers, suppressed, topped with Leupold Mk 5 3.6-18x and supported by an ATLAS Bipod, and that set-up still weighed at around or under 8lbs, is very handy and maneuverable.
I like a rifle or carbine that when you pick it up from the pistol grip alone, you feel like you have total control over it with one hand and can easily point it, bring it into presentation, and hold it comfortably.
This really helps with natural point of aim.
