Mini 14 - Open bolt design is a close copy of the M14. The open bolt is very forgiving when it comes to dirt, dust or sand. The rifle clean or dirty just keeps ticking and ticking. My experience is the opposite: The exposed bolt design gets sand in it almost immediately in high dust/sand environments, causing malfs when the sand finds its way quickly into the chamber.
AR 15- Closed bolt design. Just ask our troops about the plastic baggies they need to use to keep the sand from jamming up there rifles. [COLOR="red"]Never used plastic baggies. Use plenty of Slip2000, and an AR will stay firing much longer than an M14 in high-sand conditions.

Mini 14 - Self-cleaning gas system no buffer tube to collect moisture or dirt and lock up the buffer system. I've never seen an AR choke from dirt in the extension tube.
AR 15- Must be field stripped to clean trigger compartment, Buffer system, Bolt & carrier and gas tube system. ????
Mini 14 - compact, versatile, and doesn't take up much space.
AR15 - Large bulky ????
Mini 14 - Field strips in seconds. Pop the trigger guard and the rifle practically dismantles it self. [COLOR="red"]Pulling the bolt from a Mini is not as easy as pulling the bolt from an AR.

Mini 14 - But here we can help! We can turn your Mini 14 into a rifle that will shoot right next to an AR15 after one of our conversions is completed. Now that we have discussed the pros and cons of the rifles you would have to say the Mini definitely has some advantages and we can take care of the disadvantages!
I have only heard good things about Accuracy System's work over the years, however, they might want to update the comparisions between the AR and the Mini-14. I like a Mini-14 for what it is, but the exposed bolt group does not help it or the M14 with reliability, that I can assure you.
It won't help win a lot of customers making a comparison between the AR15 and Mini-14, but it would help by just focusing on what they do to make a Mini sing an accurate tune. There definitely are a number of challenges with the Garand/M14/Mini action fitting securely and consistently into a traditional stock, and the gas system and op-rod are an entirely different matter to tackle.
I would like a double-lugged receiver, with pillars in an aluminum chassis built into the stock for starters. I also have an idea that would truly free-float the barrel independent of the gas system. I would also like to extend the longitudinal bolt lug track to increase lock time.
