That's interesting, I haven't heard of Sonic but watched a couple of videos just now. - Was the comparison with your brother apples for apples? By that I mean were the cans roughly the same volume and number of baffles, same size bleed chamber?

I know DPT went to a slightly narrower design which he calls MkII.

That spiral spine in the Sonic is interesting.

I like how they both come apart for cleaning.

My dpts are both older mk1’s I haven’t got a mk2 yet
My brothers is the sonic 45 in 7mm caliber he went bigger than needed to he can use it on other rifles if needed
That is meant to have a negative effect on the amount of noise reduction but doesn’t make much difference at all from experience he’s running the standard 5 baffles
My dpt’s are the same a tiny bit smaller.277(270cal) im running 7 baffles (5 is factory)

Both are very similar size suppressors the sonic maybe being the slightest bit bigger but my extra two baffles would give my dpt more volume overall than the sonic

The modular design is good because you can reduce the number of baffles to increase compactness
This will vastly reduce the effectiveness but a lot better than nothing and when you’re hunting your only shooting 1 or 2 shots so its worth having it a bit louder and easier to carry
But you can put more on to get it as quiet as possible if needed
