In my experience small base dies are not needed with the 6.5 Grendel. I have a set of RCBS small base 264 LBC/6.5 Grendel dies and I think they over work the brass. I have the Hornady Custom 6.5 Grendel standard dies which I like better. I got the RCBS dies on sale and since I had several other RCBS dies. Hornady 6.5 Grendel products tend to be gtg plus Hornady submitted the application to SAAMI for the 6.5 Grendel.
