If I've got this right, the heavier buffer kept the brass in the chamber a bit longer, a bit more lock up, if that's the right word. You were getting some early unlock that's why brass was getting beat up. I'm shifting mostly to H1 although some 100's might need the regular weight (still testing). I don't shoot suppressed.
Klem is right in that the bullet has passed the gas port, but I think the heavier weight also lets the backpressure die down more than it was...
Agree that all of that wouldn't cause a 2" shift by itself.
