What Im getting at is that none of these would have ever been classified as a Short Barreled Rifle by their manufacturers or end users.
They are either rifles, carbines, or pistol-carbines that we would now call Personal Defense Weapons (PDWs).

So if manufacturers, militaries, collectors, and end-users never called any of these firearms Short Barreled Rifles, why should we?
