Welcome aboard. Nothing wrong with 1/7 twist. Tighter twist makes a lot of sense as the barrel gets shorter.
The older Ive gotten, the more I lean to buying a complete rifle or upper from people that know what theyre doing.
The hardest thing is the gas block being press-fit to the journal of the barrel for a tight gas seal, as well as having the armorers gauges to check that your bolt carrier 3-bore diameters are within spec.
