Big game have even been harvested with well-placed shots from the tine 22 Long Rifle.
The problem is that the average time to collapse and death go up as the bullets get smaller especially when a slight aiming, accuracy error or unexpected movement takes the shot away from the ideal impact point.
The statistics show that ones chance of sucess, even with well-placed shots, go up with bullet weight.
Stinkys 120 gr threshold for cup and core bullets is consistent with a substantial body of evidence.
