I spent way too much time killing gophers with that gun and 40 yard head shots etc so the beavers were easy in comparison.
First one I ever bagged I made a square on hit with a .22LR in the noggin. Did not penetrate. I then proceeded to empty the mag into the critter as it rolled around and thrashed, ultimately hitting it 4 or 5 times. My buddies down the canal could only hear the shots and were wondering if WW3 was starting in the river bottom, heh. Since then, we use centerfire. I mostly use 350 Legend, but before the season is over I am going to try to bag one with an inline muzzleloader with a 370 grain maxi ball.
