I did run around with a trapper when I was younger during spring bear hunts and his tin boat. I killed a whole bunch for him with my Dads old win model 63 and Remington Yellowjackets .22 and it was very effective to about 60 yards. But yes those or stingers would work well up to 60. I was so effective the trapper was asking to take me out every evening possible. We wore full rain gear, blood bath hauling them into boat and racing up to them after I shot em, before they sink. Anyway, not a common pursuit and the trapper had a 22 mag but he wasnt connecting the first time so finally said my turn, I never missed. I spent way too much time killing gophers with that gun and 40 yard head shots etc so the beavers were easy in comparison.
