The Illinois House and Senate passed this bill during a short Veto session. The law was written by Bloomberg and other anti gun groups. With redistricting in Illinois I dont ever see another party being able to get control away from the Democrats. This law was written and passed in less than a week where the Governor signed it on the same day. The bill grandfathers now banned firearms but requires registration with the ISP.
The impetus for registration is the State can quickly change the law and seize all registered firearms. The Dems will have complete control in January 2024 and I suspect once registration period expires they ban all weapons and require the owners to surrender or face prosecution.
