Just had another thought on this.
I wonder whether the flintlock action used in 1791 pistols was the same (or maybe essentially so) as the ones that could be turned into a musket/long rifle. I think at least some of them must have shot the same size lead ball as the musket. Same powder. Same flint. Same striking action. Doesn't have to be ALL of them, but at least SOME of them...?
