What sort of precision match are you putting two hundred rounds out of your AR in the course of a couple of hours?
We used to clean the M-14 pretty thoroughly and then shoot ten rounds out of it to fowl the barrel if we were shooting the next day. Cleaning it ensured it would function consistently for a match. After about a hundred rounds, it paid to clean it again but we never expected much until it got fowled. Maybe they would go a lot longer without cleaning. Not sure anyone knew for sure but like most things with shooting, it was believed. So, that's what we did. I look back on it and think it was the right thing to do.
Being able to eliminate doubts is a mental skill, as important as ability. You eliminated a concern that was obviously bugging you and things are going very well. You would be surprised at how many can identify the issue but are not willing to deal with it because they think if they change anything, their stuff will suck even more. That is OCD. You don't have it -- yet.... He, he.

over the course of a 2 match weekend. ill either clean saturday night after the 1st match or switch rifles then clean both on sunday evening. Hitting 200+ rounds is easy between points, sighters, after match practice/fun. cleaning in between matches is imperative because i dont want to ever hit the fall off point of fouling, and its easy to do over the course of a weekend.
knowing you have a problem and doing absolutely nothing about it... i can definitely relate after having told at my spotter to stop giving me wind calls and stating the universe will not allow me to miss (until I do.) sometimes you know your margins and any change will bork it until the next stage.
Im not at turn on and off the lights 7 times, walk 4 steps turn around, walk 5 steps do a little jump, wash my hands 12x, and repeat the pledge of allegiance every morning at 7:28AM... I only turn on and off the lights 5 times
in a single weekend I have had as many as 3x matches. 2x silhouette then a 300-600, those weekends I always run 2 rifles.
