lazyengineer in looking at that pic again I will add that the thicker base by Hornady not only gives the base more structural strength (all other things equal), it also keeps the powder closer to the shoulder and away from the bolt, and it closes the gap of the unsupported area.

If the Hornady brass was actually stronger, it wouldn’t lose primer pocket tension after 5-12 loads.

Guess which brand lasts longer than any other brand of brass in 6.5 Grendel? Lapua

I like the Hornady brass a lot, so it isn’t a ding against them, just what I and others have seen with it collectively.
