I agree. Not for philisophical reasons, but for basic business reasons. Much of the ESG priority is counter to maximizing profits, but that's not the big one. The big one is company leadership focusing on ESG priority is rarely well focused on company core mission. I expect any company I invest in to not overtly engage in racist or illegal activity; and I have the law backing me, to assure that is not happing. Beyond that, I have little obligation or expectation for companies I invest in, to engage in distractions from the focus of the company. When investing, I pay careful attention to the company ESG priority messaging and related items in their annoucements, shareholder statements, website, etc. Company's that spend a lot of time talking about supporting the racist BLM organization, aren't for me - and indeed are squandering company resources in just bad investing - as we've seen with the embezzlement accusations in that group. I'm not saying I'm a huge investor of Warren Buffett here, but I will say, investing in companys that don't go beyond the basic appropriate statements of EEOC and ethical treatment of all employees, has worked well.
Again, I'm not doing it to teach anyone a lesson. I'm just doing so to maximize my returns in ethical and appropriate companies.
