Thunderbeast Ultra 5

Lrrp uses the ultra 5 on his short barrels and speaks highly of it. I use the ultra 7 like you. I personally wouldn't want anything less then the 7 but i have not heard the 5 to compare.

The Ultra 5 is loud for a suppressor on a 12” Grendel, as it was really meant for short barrel .300 Whisper, or longer barrel centerfire rifle.

On a 20” Grendel, the Ultra 5 is almost Hollywood quiet. I sat off to the side of the muzzle while someone was firing 20” Grendel down at Steel Safari just doing some fun shooting in the evening, and it was really quiet.

Ray really wanted me to get the Ultra 7 for 12” Grendel, but I was stubborn and wanted the Ultra 5.

All I cared about was taking the muzzle blast edge off, not super quiet.

It coughs/barks kinda, whereas on 20”, it sounds like disconnecting an air hose coupling.

Ultra 5 is perfect for a hunting rifle with traditional barrel lengths, as it doesn’t feel like there is a can on the end like with heavier designs.

Mine is 7.4 ounces, no kidding.
