Last I knew Satern sold cut rifled barrels which were very accurate rifles. Most of the Satern cut rifled barrels used SAAMI spec chamber. When Satern sold under Liberty brand cheaper button rifled barrels is when the short chamber raised its ugly head. Satern blamed everybody else and came up with the Grendel II chamber. The Grendel II chamber uses a conventional tapered throat with a long free bore. The Liberty barrels are rack grade and with any rack grade quality quality control can be a problem.
The way Satern handled the short chamber issue with forum members really hurt is reputation on this forum. I have Friends who bought Brownells 6.5 Grendel barrels that were manufactured by Satern/Liberty. They shot good but had short chambers. The owners couldve returned them but didnt. They rarely shot factory ammo and reloaded so they kept the barrels. Another problem is the Liberty 18 barrels have huge gas ports which contributed to broken bolts and extractors. Short chambers with bullets in the lands in an over gassed upper is a recipe for short extractor and bolt life. Ask me how I know.
