Yep, get a good barrel. A couple of years ago I bought a well regarded AR in 223. After many powders and bullets, I just could not get that rifle to shoot under about 1 1/2. That was just not good enough. I called the manufacturer and got the CEO on the line, and told him my problem. He said that the rifle met MiL-spec accuracy standards and that was all it was guaranteed to do. Thats all he had to offer, but it didnt help me at all. Well, I did like the rifle, so I bought a match grade barrel off a guy I knew, and that fixed the problem.
The new AR, the Odin Works rifle, doesnt need a new barrel. When I bought it, the gunshop threw in a box of Hornady Black 123 gr match rounds. After getting the scope sighted in, I was able to shoot a couple of really tight groups with the Hornady Black. I am pleased.
