I think with a drop in you get a tighter geometry and trigger pull is what it says without adjustment. Functionally, they aren't much heavier but provide a wider option of trigger shoes etc. Never blew a primer before but the cheapest cartridge trigger I have tried has been a rise armament. I use both depending on what gun I pick up. Install is far easier with the cartridge obviously.

That's an intersting point. I never looked hard at drop in due to the higher cost and I'm ok with THE PITA of the 2-part trigger installation (though will admit, it is a mild PITA, especially to those out of practice). So I've always dismissed drop in as expensive for those looking for an easier install. Not being judgy, nothing wrong with that! But when you could get a LaRue 2-stage for <$90 that was an easy decision. In retrospect, you make an excellent point that by being a one-piece unit, they get to control the tolerances reliably and precisely. Where in theory a sloppy recieve pin hole set may yield a lesser trigger experience with a conventional 2-part.

Not something I have run into, but I could see it being a factor sometimes.



By the way, as a tangent, the LaRue trigger was (and still is) purposely underpriced by design. The story is entertaining,, as part of a pissing match that started up between LaRue and Geisslel. Basically they had a pairing up and gentleman's agreement, until G starting talking smack about LaRue scope mounts, and KABOOM it just spiralled out of control from there. LaRue ego and gumption to talk smack as well is a bit infamous too - he eventually got banned from AR15.COM even Net result, was a very good trigger at a screw-you price to his competitor. Personally, I love and respect them both. And happily buy whoever is the best choice for my project.
