I love all these " shoot them in the eye" talk. The answer just like "shoot them in the shoulder" is "it depends"
You are aiming at the anatomical structure that is underneath muscle and bone. I worked in Vet Medicine and can immediately spot every organ from any angle. But the point of external impact changes on angle of incident and angle of elevation.
I shoot pigs in the head all the time. Only one I have had run off was one I shot dead on with a .30-06. Pig was shot 20 min later at another feeder and we learned that the bullet deflected off the skull slope and just gashed her forhead. On an animal that is level and broadside the aim point is 1/2 way between the eye and earhole. This will enter the brain 100% of the time and send bone through it as well.
Most people are not well versed enough in animal anatomy to be able to hit small targets that have a moving aiming point.
