I never even considered my 28" for hunting application.
It's a steel ringer and hole punch, if I were to use grendel to go after mule deer and elk, I'd probably keep it within 300 yards and run in the 130gr class of bullet. Out of my 22" I can get the bergers moving at 2550fps which I feel should be sufficient to take down a mule deer.
28" varmatch is not a rifle to shoulder and fire, it's front heavy and weighs more than a couple of cinder blocks. For me, lugging it around wouldn't be a problem, but accurately firing it offhand would be a comical excersise in futility. I'm not built like a brick shit house.
