OK, thats actually really cool.
The problem with tiny coil springs in gas blocks is the thermal cycles they are subjected to.
Tiny springs dont handle radical thermal gradients well at all, which contributes to them failing quickly.
As everyone knows, gas blocks get really hot, really fast.
This exposed leaf spring should mitigate a lot of that since it is in ambient atmosphere and has a lot more mass to it.
