1:5 is way too fast - bullets might even fly apart and you don't want that in a suppressor. Not sure 1:5 twist rate even exists in 30cal barrels. 1:7 or 1:8 is perfectly fine for heavy slow 30cal bullets. What is your current twist?

Several companies are using 1/5 twist in 300 BLK, including SIG, on the short barrels.

The shorter barrels don’t spit out supersonics that fast, so they typically will stay under 300,000rpm.

If you have a 16” 300 BLK, then I definitely would stay away from 1/5 twist with supers because you will easily exceed 300,000rpm.

A little 7.5”-8” with 1/5 is optimized for subsonic, but will still spin 125gr supers at a max of 185,000rpm.

It makes sense to have the twist rate correspond to the barrel length. I ran all the numbers through an RPM formula based on known 300 BLK velocities with different barrel lengths and bullet weights.
