With kids the priority of risk/damage is first to hearing damage and then bruising from excessive recoil. Everyone focuses on the wrong priority... recoil. My daughter decided to start shooting as a pre-teen... that was the official green light to buy suppressors.
Ignoring Cost
I don't understand why anyone uses a brake (unless it is to comply with rules/guidelines for a particular shooting sport). Suppressor always beats out brake for recoil management and shooter's enjoyment. Risk of hearing damage for a young kid is significantly greater when using a Brake. A standard barrel is quieter than a brake...linear brake tries to replicate by directing the noise/blast downrange. Spend the money and buy a suppressor or 3!!!
