You have heard wrong...
DD has made its name on being a tough accurate rifle that only incorporates what is needed...no frills... just an extremely dependable hammer. My experience is that Daniel Defense makes a superior barrel compared to majority of factory AR15 barrels. All of mine will shoot 1/2" or better. It is as good or better than my Noveske barrels. The only step above this is a full on custom barrel.
Your barrel just sounds like another typical DD barrel.... nothing special for DD, but huge for everyone else! You got lucky in that there is a DD barrel in your rifle... you will not be disappointed.
