Dimpling can have accuracy issues if the set screw is tightened down too tight. 20 inch pounds is recommended with the set screw in the dimple, "with this type of gas block" instead of the standard 25" pounds.. Clamp type is preferable if accuracy is paramount...

Would be interested in direct observations on gas block type affecting accuracy. It makes sense—a setscrew is a stress concentration, which could localize and increase barrel deformation as more of a point effect than the area of a clamp type.

Has anyone had direct experience with improved accuracy with the same barrel by changing from a dimpled set screw gas block to a clamp on gas block?

I haven’t used a dimpled gas block yet, but I picked up the SLR jig, as that seems to provide the most repeatable method to accurately locate a dimple available to the end user.
