And I'm not saying I think your info is wrong Clem. I guess I'm saying that based on most available data I've seen, I think I had a foundation to at least try the powder weights I did.
In any case, I've already observed that this powder is not the best choice for this rifle. I was getting better results from TAC and AA2520.
Makes sense. And it's what I suspected. I didn't mention it before, but that is when my groups really opened up and SD widened noticeably.
I'm surprised my rifle would be overgassed, being that it's rifle with a RLG system (~0.092" port) and a standard rifle buffer, 5 oz? But given enough pressure, anything will become overgassed.
BTW, I wrote to BRA and told them about the issue with their web site. They fixed it quickly and so I ordered two of their extractors.
You are mistaken, but that's alright.
Just to emphasize, I never said I was interested in building my rifle to handle ultra hot loads. I'm not sure how you guys came to that assumption. This issue came up while doing work-up testing, which often for various reasons to leads to dead ends.
I just came here to ask about finding a replacement extractor.
My apologies I thought you was the same member here not long back that had broke several extractors.
As to your load, I dont really care how hot you run it. It's your rifle and your health do as you choose.
I'm just giving you the best advice I can to fix the issue that caused your extractor to break. Just because you have standard equipment installed doesnt mean the rifle cant be or go overgassed.
Even with all OEM equipment setup rifle length in 556 can be overgassed. As it was designed to be overgassed too keep running under combat situations.
3:30 and later on the clock is undergassed. Anything earlier then 3 is over gassed and getting worse.
