It is tough to estimate the amount of ammo needed by all of the new guns. Many people are buying their second or tenth AR15 and won't be buying a couple of thousand rounds for each new gun that uses the same ammo they already have. Also, a lot of the new gun owners are just setting up for home defense, not SHTF. Many of them can't imagine needing more than a few boxes of ammo, so they won't be the largest buyers. The people determined to pick up several thousands of rounds will be.
