Hardest part was actually seeing the edge of the playing card. I couldn't, even at 24x. I cut the target behind it on the centerline and stuck the card in there. I was actually aiming at the diamond point.
Yup... open buckhorn sights. At 25yds you can sorta see the edge of the card. Another favorite shoot with smokepoles is the ball split. A double-bit axe head is stuck in the face of a big log with clay pigeons placed on both sides of the axe head. If your aim is true, the axe blade will split the ball & break both clay pigeons. This is harder than cutting cards 'cause you really can't see the edge of the blade. It takes me 3 to 4 shots to figure out where to aim. Muzzleloaders are tons of fun.
