I use the KG products, namely KG 1 for carbon removal. Follow up with a patch or two with kroil to remove the KG, followed by a patch or two with brake cleaner, then a patch with light Rem oil. Always had good results doing this. Oh, BTW, I use a nylon brush with the KG, as that is what KG recommends.

ETA: I also use the KG1 to soak BCG’s in, and it makes cleaning a breeze. Literally dissolves the carbon to the point a tooth brush is all you need. I also keep my BCG’s coated with Red oil, the homemade snake oil of the gun world, and that seems to help as well.
