I agree it's bad glass. Replace it with the best you can afford and move on. About 10 years ago the local Scheels Sports Center had their company-branded scopes on sale. I picked up a Scheels 2.5-10 mil dot for $149. The damned thing tracks like a tank and is exceptionally clear. When I suspect a bad scope -no matter who made it- I slap this scope on the rifle in question. It has never failed me, proving that not all inexpensive scopes are junk.
I am a sucker for trying out new company products and recently bought a set of Styrka (pronounced "steerka") binos. They were inexpensive and excellent clarity. That prompted me to buy a 3-12X42 Series7 scope on sale from Optic's Planet for $269 after other discounts and promos. It is a decent piece of glass. I put it on my Tikka UPR 6.5 Creedmoor and ran the turrets all over creation. Came right back to zero. They state a no fuss warranty as well: they won't honor deliberate damage, theft or loss, but any other mishap or malfunction is covered. You can send your glass in once a year for cleaning and tune up. I haven't tested this warranty but I will send the bino's in this March or so to see what they do. The Series 7 scopes are their higher end? but all their glass carries the same warranty. I haven't completely torture tested that scope but the brand might be worth a look.~Riuma
