I honestly think if you use a chamber brush on a t handle every couple cleanings you will be fine. I also think overzealous cleaning does more damage than good. You guys would be shocked at how little maintenance it takes to keep ARs running reliably.
Most guys whos lives or livelihoods depend on these rifles put less than 5 minutes into cleaning them and honestly thats all they need. Spin a t-handled chamber brush in the chamber/ extension, brush the bore, wipe it all out (receiver too), punch the bore/chamber with a clean dry patch. Disassemble the bolt, wipe it all down with a solvent soaked rag, wipe it clean, oil it put her back together. Done.
Now cleaning a match rifle, thats a different story.
