It will need cleaning eventually. I pull a bore snake through my barrels after I shoot and do a thorough cleaning about every 300 to 500 rounds. I will clean the bolt carrier and bolt more often.
You did not ruin your barrel by cleaning it with Hoppes. In fact, I don't know of a bore solvent that ruins barrels.
Ain't the solvent or the cleaning.
