The carbon upper I used does not have the forward assist or door...the purpose of this build was weight savings and did not want the added weight of these components. As for the barrel/free float... I used a standard AA 14.5" (16" w/ pinned flash hider)... I did not want to sacrifice barrel integritty/accuracy for this build. I measured all the critical dimensions/components and did a very little amount of clean up on the feed ramps in carbon upper to the barrel feed ramps. The free float hand gaurd is made of carbon fiber as well with the barrel nut incorporated into the guard itself, but utilizes a stander thread/contour. I have shoot the rifle several times for testing and ammo cycled many times as well and have had no issues.
