you are much braver than i, i think. though i'll never get the chance, if i were hunting blacktail on Kodiak island, i'd pick a caliber that would be capable of fending off those bears if necessary. it'll be overkill for the little blacktail for sure, but you'll come home each hunting trip. however never being on K.I. perhaps it's not so hard to hunt deer and avoid bears so that train of thought of mine may not be necessary at all.
