You can start to see how the big picture will tempt the General officer level to push for adoption, without the soldier’s load being taken into consideration the way Joe Private First Class and Corporal Bad A** might look at it. We’ll see soon enough what happens.

Many months ago, I made a similar statement, albeit in my usual obtuse and easily misunderstood language. And the saddest part is that the poor Grunts with boots on the ground has no recourse nor avenue of communications, to say. "Whoa here, let's talk about this for a minute." Sure a few Command level Sargents will be asked to give their approval of the new concept, but that is usually as far as it goes. During the Civil War, a few units, both North and South were equipped with privately purchased arms and ammunition to better serve the battlefield environment that they were being employed in. The only saving grace for our military is that our enemies haven't done much better than we have in providing their soldiers with the "ideal" weapon system. God forbid that that should change.
