Yes, stress on the tube will happen but how does stress on the tube cause two minute errors? In most cases, there is no lens located where the rings bear on the scope body so the notion that this pressure is causing a lens to misalign is probably wrong.
Not saying nothing is wrong with the optic. Just wondering if this sort of thing is caused by rings not bearing perfectly on the optic body or something else.
