I just got two 20 round CPD/Duramag 6.5 Grendel mags from Aim Surplus ($18.95 each). I havent thoroughly tested these two mags but so far they appear to be gtg. I did a review on these mags. The best price Ive found for E-Lander 6.5 Grendel mags is LaRue Tactical. Alexander Arms also sell the E-Lander mags and Brownells sell ASC & E-Lander. Joe Bob Outfitters had CPD Duramags in stock yesterday.
The AR Stoner mags are rebranded ASC. At one time Alexander Arms has sold the original C Products then ASC mag with the AA marked floor plate. When E-Lander 6.5 Grendel mags were introduced AA dropped the ASC and started selling E-Lander marked as Alexander Arms.
I have original CP, ASC, E-L and CPD/D of different capacities. All my current mags function but Ive had to tweak two mags to get reliable function. One 25 round ASC needed a slight adjustment to the feed lips to feed from the non ejection port side. One 24 one E-Lander had rough welds on the inside of the spine dragging on the follower. A few passes with a hand file fixed the E-Lander mag.
I like the size of the 15 round ASC, 17 round E-L and 20 round CPD/D best. I use my 24/25 round mags the least unless shooting off hand at closer range. For bench use I like the ten round and mid size 15,17,20 round mags. I use the mid size mags the most. All the mags have their advantages and disadvantages but all have had lemons hit the market. If you buy 6.5 Grendel mags buy from a vendor with good customer service in case you get a lemon. LaRue web site doesnt show current inventory but Ive always gotten my mags. You can call and verify if they have mags in stock.
