Don't think it's too glossy, but it's a bit off on actual Magpul FDE, as you can see by the furniture. Ordered four cans of this stuff a year ago and just now getting around to using it. Only used about half a can so far.
That said, since I rushed it to get it to the range today, I'll be sanding and hitting it again in a few weeks after it's fully cured.
Might even go full redneck and camo it just due to peer pressure. They say never go full redneck, but all my civie hunting buddies camo everything and I get a ration of crap for my mostly monotone rifles. Me, I had to live in and surrounded by camo for so long I now try to avoid it if I can. The hogs and deer never seemed to care, and I doubt any fool breaking into my house will complain much.
And inspiration strikes! I'm going to Hawaiian shirt the crap out of this build!
I went back and looked at the instructions on the can. It surprised me. They want any second coat within 30 minutes, then 10-14 days to set.
Mine is Alumahyde II Magpul FDE, and its at least 2 years old.
When I look at its color compared to stock Magpul FDE, it looks shinier and a touch greyer. I am about a week in on what I painted, so I should review again in another week.
I am about to go full redneck (also).
I am unhappy with Build 1 and its 40 effing shades of FDE. I messed up by telling the Cerakoters to finish the lower in Magpul FDE, instead of Aero FDE, which is what the Upper and HG are.
So I am now the proud owner of a set of Flecktarn stencils. Its by far my favorite camo pattern, especially the Tropical Fleck.
So, I went with the rednecks delight rattle can assortment from amazon.

That and a black can gives me the colors I need. I will use the existing rifle FED colors as one of the base tan colors. I have some boonies and BDUs to use for comparison.
