Your correct on several points. Original Toolcraft bolts were 2.800 in length then shortly after introduction they switched to 2.810 bolt. Usual tolerance is .001-003 from measuring bolt lengths. The bolt face depth is a little harder for me to measure but most bolts seem to be -.001 or -.002 of .136 or .125 with 223/5.56.
I just measured the length of the bolt lugs on a new Millennium Monster Logo 6.5 Grendel bolt @ .275. It is very difficult to get an exact measurement but it appears there is a tolerance of minus .001 to .002. Ive got two new 5.56/223 bolts and they have the same length bolt lug .275 with what appears minus .002 tolerance.
Looks like your Radical Firearms bolt will have excessive firing pin protrusion, spec says .028 to max .036 FP protrusion. With a 2.80 length bolt Id want a max length firing pin of 3.269 but .003 shorter would be better. There is a .008 tolerance window on FP protrusion.
The lugs on the Radical look long as most of what I measured tend to be less than .275 in length and not more. You might have tolerance stacking between barrel extension and bolt. If the Radical bolt wont fit in more than one barrel extension (Which it doesnt) the bolt is probably to far out of spec.
The KM Tactical bolt would work in a 7.62x39 AR-15 barrel or a 6.5 Grendel/264 LBC barrel chambered to use a .125 bolt face depth Type 1 bolt.
Sounds like KM Tactical screwed up and sent the wrong bolt. The AA hard use bolts are gtg as are the Group Buy Millennium Monster bolt for $55. BFT is expecting the new batch of bolts very soon (within the next couple of weeks).
Sounds like you did your research. The Toolcraft bolt should be fine just dont get your firing pins mixed up. Im not surprised about a Radical Firearms being out of spec. There seems to be a competition between RF and BCA who can sell the most out of spec 6.5 Grendel.
Id check with KM Tactical and see if theyll refund or replace the Type 1 bolt. I d buy a Monster bolt for a spare and use it till RF replaced the out of spec bolt.
