So with my original post has anyone used this type method on the Howa to find there lands, if so what kind of numbers are you seeing?
And how far are you off the lands for your seated bullet?
Any bullet type data would be great.

Doesn’t matter what “numbers” they’re “seeing”, every gun is different, their number are irrelevant for your gun.

IMO That method of finding the lands is unnecessary and way overkill!

It just doesn’t matter if you spend hours averaging out a 100 measurements of just “kissing the lands” or I just jam one up in there a couple of times with a Stoney Pt gauge or split neck method and call it good. Either way, we’re both going to subtract X from that measurement and use that as our new baseline. The new baseline number is all that matters now, and it doesn’t matter if how I found the lands was not as precise as your method and I end up starting .005 or .010 deeper than your 100 times average of “just kissing the lands” method. They’re both only starting points. The original base to lands measurement is going to change after 100 rounds anyway, as you shoot the gun, the lands erode. So who cares how precisely you measured it to start with? It doesn’t matter!
