A leaking gas key or broken gas key fastener is more common than many realize. If a rifle begins to short stroke, the reverse torque of 30 inch lbs is one of my first test. Many manufacturers will use a locking compound on their fasteners, "and they can break without falling out" leaving the rifle owner ignorant to the problem......
