One data point, maybe... in a war zone don't our soldiers carry 7x30 rounds on them (talking 556)?

The basic load is 7x30 rounds in magazines, but some soldiers have carried 10x30 rounds in magazines.

And it is not uncommon to also carry some extra ammo in stripper clips, for refilling emptied magazines.

What sort of "firefights" should a person anticipate.
Or, how many rounds per day or per week should one expect to use.
Then multiply out by x number of weeks... what is "x"?

Weeks??? If you're alone, it seems just a bit optimistic to think that you can survive several firefights per week, for weeks on end.

Maybe if you're with a group of trained infantrymen, you'll have a realistic chance of living through numerous firefights, but alone?
