Help with ejector marks and over-pressure

I have this question for y'all, why not close the gas off when pressure testing to eliminate the gas part of the equation?

I think there might be some concern about effecting velocity. I’m gonna shoot some of the factory loads with both gas full on, full off, and half and see if there is notable difference in velocity.
