The brass looks fine to me. I know people who have tried to shoot the 6.5 Grendel with no gas or to little gas and it was difficult to extract the spent case. If you stand the bolt carrier up the gas rings should hold the bolt up. If the bolt will not hold itself in the forward position from the friction of the gas rings that could be an issue.
There was a thread a couple weeks ago where a carrier was wearing out gas rings rapidly. Kind of uncommon but not completely unknown. The inside of the carrier was rough and out of spec which was destroying the gas rings. I bet you just havent opened the gas block enough or there is insufficient gas. It is not unheard of to get a barrel with the wrong size gas port.
