Riots, the 2nd Amendment and you

Now imagine you are the home owners in the story and add to the mix that some of the "protesters" start throwing bricks and bottles at you as they have at the police. What would you do? Suppose you have a magazine of rubber bullets or bean bag rounds handy, would you use them first?
Is it better to gradually escalate on the use of force continuum or stop it right then with max firepower? Warning shots?
Opinions welcome.

Well I live in a free state, so as soon as the first brick would be thrown at my person, loved one are my property, I have the legal right to use deadly force and will do so.
