To add fuel to the fire...I went with the 6.5 Grendel for the 120-130 grains with good ballistics. I chose this over the lighter grain 22 Nosler and 224 Valkyrie. So what are the Horde members reasons to go 6MM ARC vs 6.5 Grendel?

I run a 18" 243 LBC carbine that is a rebarreled 18" 6.5G. My rationale is similar ballistics with significantly lower recoil and enhanced ability to stay on target. That ability is significant for my 243. Apples to apples. I also tune my rifles to be as soft as possible and am of the belief that that can enhance a shooters accuracy. The trade off is reduced splash and more energy transferred as heat vs force, so I'm not sold on it as a longer target rifle. A do it all carbine is where it should shine with much faster and accurate CQB capability than 6.5 G. When the scamdemic hit and ammo and loading components were flying off of shelves I looked in my safe and and realized that the 243 would be the perfect SHTF rifle - except I was limited to the ammo I had and the brass that I had formed.

Note that I did an early 22 Nosler and it was a disaster. A very accurate 18" Odin barrel with RLGS. Timing was so bad that I was literally bending the stupid rebated case heads - with factory ammo! When I gave up on it, I couldn't sell the barrel with a conscience so I got about 40¢/lb for it at the recycling center. I stayed away from 224V due to the LR accuracy issues and ensuing twist debate and have seen nothing to make me want to jump in since.

Note that I don't expect to do anything here until I see data in barrel life. With all of the R&D done by Hornady and Proof for the military, I'd think they'd advertise numerical shot count results if they were a selling point.

Edit: I'll add that as a target rifle, the argument becomes very similar to the 6CM vs 6.5CM argument. Plenty of those on the interwebs for the masochist!
