On the Colorado River again last Saturday. I was sitting in a blind above the river and spotted a lone boar moving quickly along a trail @ 80 yards on the other side. He paused for a security check with only a small mesquite between us. Since shooting lanes are minimized with the abundant vegetation this time of year, I decide to risk it and shoot through the mesquite. The risk paid off as the bullet didn't hit any significant branch nor deflected. He was hit square on the shoulder and folded w/out ever getting up again. The 123gr SST did not exit.
About an hour later I spotted group of hogs @ 350 yards. I was so astonished at the size of the sounder that I grabbed my camera instead of my rifle. They kept pouring out from the river bottom, most likely headed to the grain fields approx 1 mile south of us. They traveled swiftly never in close range so I snapped a few pictures. I counted no less than 65 hogs.
